The Burning Peppermints bring their feisty garage rock to Trim Tab Brewing tonight! Part retro, part indie, they’re a high-energy ensemble. Their dual drums, far-out effects, and manic vocals make for a wild live performance. You want antics? They’ve got antics. It’s obvious that the band has a blast on stage and their good time is contagious.

What’s the occasion? Tonight is the release of Trim Tab’s seasonal barley wine, the Nilbog. Crafted with fall’s arrival in-mind, Nilbog was named after a town in the off-beat Halloween film Trolls 2. If you haven’t seen this notorious B-movie yet, Trim Tab will screen it in the taproom.

While Trolls 2 is infamous for cheap effects, bad acting, and overall sloppy quality, Trim Tab’s Nilbog is a finely crafted work of art. “Nilbog is a very complex, rich, yet light on the palette warming beer,” says Events Manager and Social Media Director Milo Beloved. “Brewed with rye, this beer displays a beautiful red hue and includes a touch of cherry wood smoked malt that imparts just a hint of smoke in the aroma.”

Yes, the Peppermints’ feverish monster mash pairs nicely with the cool-weather brew. “I felt like their energy and throwback rock sound would be a perfect complement to the ‘weird’ness of the event,” says Beloved.

As the Peppermints’ set winds down, Birmingham Mountain Radio’s own DJ LeeJ will spin tunes in the taproom. “He is great for building a vibe that matches a crowd’s energy while leading them to turn up,” says Beloved. “Expect dancing!” In case you work up an appetite, Hot Tag Champion Cuisine will be there serving up a menu inspired by Trolls 2.

The festivities begin at 7 p.m. Trim Tab Brewing is located at 2721 5th Ave S, Birmingham, AL 35233.
