Birmingham’s Royal & Toulouse is scheduled to appear in an upcoming issue of Relix Magazine. The blues/rock/soul band will be featured in the “On the Rise” section of the magazine’s 40th anniversary issue.

“It’s truly an honor to be asked to be included in Relix Magazine, especially such a major issue,” says vocalist Milyn Satterfield. In addition to the write up, Royal & Toulouse will have a song included on a CD insert that accompanies the magazine.

The moody track “Mississippi,” which comes packaged with the publication, is a smoky send up of seedy Southern blues. Satterfield’s voice has a soulful sustain, and the instrumentation throughout the song has a slow, dark crawl to it. The guitar work is particularly hot, with just enough effects while accompanying the verses and some rocking solo breaks.

With roots covering the jam band scene of the ‘70s, Relix has grown to become one of the largest music publications in the U.S. The bands it features receive nation-wide exposure. The magazine will introduce Royal & Toulouse to its expansive readership in June.

Royal & Toulouse was founded in 2006 by Ricky Little, Milyn Satterfiel, and Alex Troughton, with a host of other talent contributing to various live and recorded efforts. They’re signed on Birmingham’s Little Town Sound record label.

You can see Royal & Toulouse live at Bottletree on May 15. They will also play at the Camp Wigout Festival in August.

The band is currently working on their next album, The Belle Curve.
