This Saturday, Homewood Central Park will be filled with musicians of all kinds for the second annual Pickin’ in the Park. Professionals and hobbyists alike may bring their instruments to the park for a tremendous, open-air jam session. Come look, listen, play along.

“This is a chance for anyone and everyone to come together to play music with each other,” says Homewood Music’s Bob Tedrow. “It’s an old-school approach- an informal and friendly jam. All genres are welcome.”

Last year, nearly 600 music lovers came out to the park on a sunny June afternoon. This year’s events is expected to be noticeably cooler. The Homewood Arts Council is providing chairs, ice water, and shade tents to accommodate the pickers, and food trucks will offer some of Birmingham’s finest mobile dining. There will also be a mini stage to showcase guest performers like the ever-charming folk duo, The Matchcoats.

So bring your instrument of choice, be it a guitar, banjo, or this thing. It’ll be a grand old time.

Pickin’ in the Park will run from 3-7 p.m. Homewood Central Park is located at 1632 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209.
