On Saturday, April 20, The Grey Haven Community will hold its 26th musical gathering at the UCF House. The quarterly Grey Haven events allow artists collaborate and perform each other’s songs. The result is a live experimentation in original music, with participants combining styles and reimagining the original material.

This event will feature two first-timers in the community, Christian rock artist Thomas Frost and folk singer/songwriter Jordan Teague. “Both Frost and Teague are new to Grey Haven,” says GH rep Corey Scogin. “I’m interested to hear them get into the mix with other performers.”

Frost was introduced to the community through his brother-in-law David Murray, who is also a Grey Haven member. “I’m excited about just being a part of this and listening to all the awesome and talented artists,” he says.

Teague learned about the collaborative events after moving to Birmingham last September. After delving into the city’s folk scene, she jumped at this opportunity to join the creative process. “I’m looking forward to contributing to other musicians’ songs and helping them make their visions for their songs a reality,” she says.

The UCF House serves as an appropriate venue for the Grey Haven events, with a spacious layout, accommodating stage, and slogan of “Faith, Art, Community.” “Grey Haven’s primary focus has always been creating art within community, so we fit right in with the purpose of the venue,” says Scogin. “It’s a nice medium-sized space with plenty of parking, and it’s very accessible.”

The show starts at 7 p.m., with a $5 cover at the door.

The UCF House is located at 3001 Highway 280 East Birmingham, AL 35243.
